  • Description

So what's the deal on this PSICOTROPICODELIA thing?

P.M. is an open-minded Brazil-based netlabel, coordinated by producers AlienAqtor & FLANICX, which also aggregates online radio/ podcasts, digital art & video.
At the very first phase, mp3 compilations were published (including exclusive graphics), containing independant electronic productions - with due authorization of the musicmakers. There was always an emphasis on brazilian scene (with at least some 2/3 of the tracks), but also counting on really special international artists.
Thus, They worked as a presentation of various styles and musical trends which will give "shape" to the Psicotropicodelia concept.

On the second phase - which strated by december 2007 - mixtapes, Mp3 EPs and mini-albuns from individual artists are being released.
Beyond that, the compilations now will go for a more conceptual side, heading closer to media and artforms other than pure music: video, cinema, digital & visual arts, performances, etc; stimulating collaborations between brazilian and foreign artists.
Future plans include the release of compilation cds/ cdrs with selections from the mp3s, according to listeners and supporters on the project.
We celebrate here the union of independant artists from transcontinental scenes - creating the electronic music from the 21st century - through complex sound & vision landscapes.

May 2008: 1 Year of Pure Schizosonic Vibes!

Psicotropicodelia music is celebrating it’s 1st birthday this May! The first ten releases have defied labels and narrow minds with a multi-cultural mix of styles and sounds from over 50 artists worldwide.

Psicotropicodelia Music emerged from a small blog dedicated to soundtracks and electronica. It kicked off with horror film director John Carpenter's discography.
Available now at Contos de Psicotropicodelia blog

Some of the key releases have been the compilations (Psicotropicodelia music Vol 1-3) and the soundtrack to Rod Brandão’s movie "Era dos Mortos" which generated about 16,000 hits on its two sections. But the "solo" works - album, eps and mixtape - also contributed with quality n' unexpected takes on e-music.

At the main hostage site: Archive.org, the total downloads went over the 40,000 mark, a good sign we're on the right path.

We now have profiles hosted on the sites listed down below.
If you already use them or not come and check us out: Onvibes, MySpace etc. Also the Youtube group is well worth checking for various videos from related artists.

It’s all available on the links below, with all the info, download and streaming' options. Check it out and Enjoy!

Many new titles are going to be published over the next weeks, you can expect a much greater frequency of new stuff covering styles such as: electrotechno, industrial, noise, breakcore, downtempo, soundtracky!
Stay tuned and don't forget to give us some feedback!

Cheers to all the ones "spreading the disease" ;]: supporters and friends to our initiative!

UNFACTORY - She Bleeds EP [RPTDM 001]

With this EP we kickstart the RPTDM series [it reads Re-Releases Psicotropicodelia Music], with material which was previously published - independentent or through other netlabels - with eventual bonus tracks, videos and extras.

Unfactory's music [built upon synths, guitars and intense vocais] reflects various styles of the last 3 decades.
On the videos you can also check their electric energy.

"She Bleeds EP", for its references and undeniable creativity, brought an 'modernized oldschool' side to the Psicotropicodelia. Opening and closing the playlist with surprising cover versions (Depeche Mode and Smashing Pumpkins), and keeping a 1st class production on the overall; we guarantee you won't forget these tracks that soon.

FLUXO - Prévia Do Amanhã [PTDM 010]

To each new release, a new "break" upon previsibility: We present The 3rd album from the hip hop duo composed by Arthur Moura and Wallace Carvalho.

These guys' music got to "break frontiers" when reaching our ears, considering hip hop/rap wasn't in our initial plans. Now we see on this musical amplitude our best way to go on.

Coming from Niteroi (Arthur) and Sao Goncalo (Wallace), both cities in Rio de Janeiro state, Brazil; they follow on "Previa do Amanha" (it reads as "Preview of Tomorrow") with their own "rhythm and poetry" touch: bases which sound like a brazilian version of artists such as DJ Shadow and Nightmares on Wax (confirm it on the INSTRUMENTAL VERSION) and (portuguese) lyrics/vocals which sit inbetween deeply artistic and good insights upon daily life.

    n0x3o - Vaculo [PTDM 011]

This is one more highly "visual"/conceptual/cinematic work which enters our catalogue: Rodrigo Florentino aka "Nox Thirty", presents - over 6 tracks - sounds plenty of poetry, atmosphere, pulsation, mistery and details.

VACULO composes the soundtrack to a short movie: "Escuridão" [translates as "Darkness"], the resulting documentary of a workshop produced by Juca Mencacci, through Oficina Cultural Regional "Grande Otelo" ["Grande Otelo" Regional Cultural Workshop], in Sorocaba city [SP, Brazil].

VACULO also brings the vocal participation of Quitéria Maria and poems of Marcelo Domingues.

Fenshu - Leftover Extensions [PTDM 007]

The artist: With music released through various labels: Imp Records, Wrong Music, Logos Prod, Psychorock; FENSHU is a french dj and producer from the most authorial kind.

After having released a lot of vinyls on different labels, worked and lived in England as graphic designer for labels like: Warp records, Wrong Music, etc... Often workin' on soundtracks for experimental movie makers.

The album: "Leftover Extensions" is the first full artist album on the label, also available through Wrong Lab [the "free mp3" side of Wrong Music label, from "Breakcore freak" SHITMAT].

These "Extensions" show themselves as an exercise in abstract, dense and emotional kaleidoscopic music: tracks which can transport you to a place in your mind where beautiful and dirty, melodic and noisy, colorful and monochromatic visuals juxtapose themselves!

ZandoZ Corp. - Organismus Palhaçus EP [PTDM008]

"Organismus Palhaçus" (it reads as "Clown Organisms") is the third release from ZandoZ Corp. project, which has previously launched - through Le Château Des Rêves netlabel - "Ergot" EP on 2006 and "Frankensteitizations Vol.1" remixes collection; for tracks of artists such as Empusae, Retrigger and Laibach. Zandoz also took part - with exclusive tracks - on some compilations: the three volumes of "Psicotropicodelia Music" and the north-american "Vague Machinery".

The EP has the circus as subject: a "homage" to the 'society circus', where people live glad and superficially as a 'mask' for their true intentions n' feelings. Created and produced by Adriano Machado, it has influences from alternative and experimental e-music.

THE INHUMAN PROJECT - The InHuman Project EP [PTDM009]

Jay Sosa, with his InHuman Project, mixes references as diverse as: synth-driven soundtracks, the most experimental side of industrial music, 90s breakbeats/downtempo, fractured n' multilayered beats/ noises and fx's from IDM/ Noise scenes, electronic crossover rock'n'roll and even the current 00s electrotechno.

Its one more release at the label that doesn't rely on a single music era/ style; in contrast, it comes to reinforce the "for listening and something else" essence of the psicotropicodelia, presenting different ideas from one track to another.

    AUTHOR'S RELEASE

Created by mid-2004, The InHuman Project is the result of lots of hash, nacho snacks and B movies.
The InHuman Project 2008(EP) is out after one year of pre-finalization, bringing a really diverse electronic sound influenced by trip-hop, breakbeats, electro and industrial.

MANORMOUSE - Never Fully Recovered EP [PTDM 012]

This great music n' culture 'maker' is a long known mate to the Psicotropicodelia and this time comes in a dubby downtempo swing to praise our ears.

Mostly known as Reverse Tunes, Manormouse is the more chilled-out musical personality of Bruno Tozzini, producer and cultural disseminator which already made history in São Paulo state [Brazil] with deceased TEMP organization.

The Manormouse project started in 2006, in a period of 3 months of homey reclusion exclusively for musicmaking. "I had just quit a job and wanted to take a relaxing break from the noisy stuff i'd been playing and had no patience to go making breakcore sounds. I've even made 1 track in the style, but nothing after that; I been dealing with all the songs in this album since that time and could just finish them now. Apart from 'Low on Ice', which entered tracklisting as a bonus: because it's one i haven't worked upon anymore, so it's got a rawer side, you can check it hasn't the sound quality of the others. But I like it.", that's how Bruno defines the EP concept; a twisted mix of dub, triphop and downtempo.

Final master work was in charge of Raul Retrigger, breakcore's top producer and friend, adding extra weight to the production. Sleeve's Artwork was done by Bruno himself, based on a photo taken by his wife Roberta Van De Velde.

The item's title is taken from a text about some psychedelic 60s band, where it said one of the members 'had never fully recovered' from LSD's excess usage. And this is the central idea on the EP: after you listen it, your neurons will stay boiling and never be the same again.

Psicotropicodelia Music Vol 1 [PTDM 001]

P.M.V.1 - on its 14 tracks - represents the experimental, creative and, sometimes, extreme electronic sounds of Brazil (Belo Horizonte, Campos dos Goytacazes, Ferraz de Vasconcelos and São Paulo cities), featuring some internacional guests (Bulgaria, U.S.A and UK).

Album opens up with the cosmic deep electro from Sonido Sintetico project, followed by the syncopated retro-futuristic beats from Muzitech, flirts with the suspense & horror movies scores' vibes with AlienAqtor and then goes massive on the hardest side of electrobreaks (MANASYT & Flanicx) and industrial techno (Zandoz Corp.)... And that was just the first part ;)! Then it goes for chiptune.game music breaks with Mike Alsop & Headloc; breakcore (Dj Reverse Tunes & Producer Snafu); idm.fractured beats a la Warp or Rephlex Records with NAO I AM; industrial (Tatari Gami & A Industrya); and finally the powerful noise experimentalists Vesica Piscis set the tone for the closing number.

    experimental | industrial | chiptune | breakcore | electro | rhythmic noise | glitch | techno | ambient | idm | abstract | soundtracky

Psicotropicodelia Music Vol 2 [PTDM 002]

Second Volume goes on with the open-minded flow, but now opens a wider selection of artists/projects/producers n' styles. This time we got 18 tracks: 12 brazilian productions (with artists from: Belo Horizonte, Campos, Fortaleza, Recife, Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo) & 6 international mates (Belgium, Bulgaria, U.S.A., France, England and Uruguai); which show how far Psicotropicodelia idea can reach .

Tracks now range, beyond the mixtures on Volume 1, an insight on the most innovative and contemporary side of electronic music: acid breaks (Sintetik), dubstep (Bruno Belluomini, Zehl Freebass and Xudux), idm meets breakcore (AVB and Pill); experimental drum & Bass (Headloc), and lots more on crossovers and "hard to label" music. Album starts and ends up with fine examples of soundtracky sounds, on a trip hop/experimental flavour. Some tracks, like the ones from Fenshu, Psycho Hoshi & Selector Chico; have a true relation to soundtrack & multimedia world.

PILL - MU.S.GA [Music for Strategy Games] EP [PTDM 004]

The name of the first PILL project's EP, "MU.S.GA - Music will be Strategy Games" (2007), already defines great part of the author's intentions. Fascinated by games' soundtracks and broken beats, journalist Mario Cavalcanti decided to bring out a small collection of tracks inspired by/ suitable for electronic games of war strategy. The sounds travel through hiphop and breakz, at times remembering music from espionage movies, and congregates elements which are already typical at Pill's works, such as: intense beats, simple chords and noisy samples.

    - The idea of creating a simple collection of tracks suitable for multiplayer strategy games was born some years ago, when I first played Yuri's Revenge of Command & Conquer series. At the time, I remember that I was fascinated with its music, partially composed by breakbeats, samples and a soldiers' march vibe. Then I decided to make some sounds inspired by the game, with proper elements of Pill project - says Mario.

THE POETIZE CODE - Extra-Cultura EP [PTDM 005]

The Poetize Code constitutes an intelligent crossover of IDM / abstract beats and the flow on the computerized beatbox of rap music. Bruno Trocoli is the creator of the idea and all melodies, glitches and digital beats. Always aiming at bringing peace and calm to those who listen his music and trying to raise the environments' vibrations.

The Poetize Code means digital poetry which ranges spiritual/ astral themes; futuristic, sidereal technology and sincere love, written through codes. Bruno Trocoli have learned to produce in 2003 and his professor was rap producer and audio technician Vagner(Kareta), integrant of Mzs group [from Franca, Sao Paulo, Brazil]. This is why his greatest influence is still rap music.
